Joy in Trials

I remember when I first became a Christian people would often ask me, “Why are you always so happy?”

I remember responding, “It’s because Jesus is so good! You see, I once was dead but now I’m alive and its all because of Jesus. How can I not rejoice!”

I used to quote this passage all of the time.

James 1:2-4 NKJV — “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”

Choosing to let joy rule in your heart during trials creates patience in you. The truth is, even though this situation you face seems hard, it could always be much worse. Sometimes the thing you are worried about is someone else’s relief compared to what they are going through.

I think we spend so much time focusing on the person in the mirror, that we miss the life and joy God has right in front of us.

What if we gave our trials to God in prayer and chose to be thankful? -KM

Prayer: This situation might not be perfect but God I thank you for all the good that I do have. I surrender my situation to you Jesus and ask you to carry this burden. Help me shift my perspective and find the joy in front of me. Give me strength to keep going and fill me with the Joy of the LORD. Amen
